Rose Byrne is on board for a Bridesmaids sequel should the opportunity arise. The Platonic actress told PEOPLE that she would "absolutely" star in a follow-up film "if all the girls were in." Byrne starred in the 2011 hit comedy alongside Maya Rudolph, Kristen Wiig, Wendi McClendon-Covey, Melissa McCarthy, and Ellie Kemper. The film, written by Annie Mumolo and Wiig, follows Annie (Wiig), a financially and emotionally struggling woman who takes on the role of Maid of Honor for her best friend Lillian's (Rudolph) wedding. When Annie meets Lillian's friend and fellow bridesmaid Helen (Byrne), they do not hit it off. Instead, an instant rivalry develops and it leads to hilarious situations.

Byrne isn't the only Bridesmaids cast member publicly expressing the desire for a reunion with the crew of funny ladies. McCarthy, who earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Megan Rice in the film, recently said: "I would do a 'Bridesmaids' sequel this afternoon, right now. That group of women was the most magical thing ever. Almost all of us were really good friends already. I think it was such a magical time." The successful film grossed over $300 million and earned a second Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay.

Director Paul Feig and Wiig, two key figures in the film's creation, don't seem to keen on a Bridesmaids Part Two, however. Feig has said a sequel was unlikely, while Wiig noted that while she and Mumolo held the film close to their hearts, they were not interested in writing a continuation to the story. While talking to People, Byrne provided another option that would reunite the hilarious cast in a new way: "It's a hard act to follow because the first film was so great. It was so magical and so beloved." She adds: "Maybe we could do a different movie together. A re-imagining of something. But I miss them all. I saw Kristen Wiig recently. It was so lovely to see her. I hadn't seen her for so long, and they've all got such a special place in my heart."
