After months of rumors, ABC finally confirmed last month that a Roseanne revival is happening, with the network handing out an eight-episode order with the entire original cast returning. No premiere date has been given yet, with the revival debuting at some point in mid-season, but last night, Laurie Metcalf made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where she teased that there will be new characters introduced as well, along with all of the returning stars. Here's what she had to say about who these new characters will be.

"Everybody's on board, yeah. There will be new people, because we had children. You know, Roseanne and I both had little tiny tots 20 years ago. So there will be new characters."

Laurie Metcalf's character Jackie Harris gave birth to her son Andy late in the sixth season of Roseanne, and Roseanne and Dan Connor (John Goodman) also had another child, Jerry Garcia Connor in Season 7. Andy would be 23 years old in present day, and Jerry would be 24, so it will be interesting to see who will be cast as these characters. When asked about how the show came to be, Laurie Metcalf revealed on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that the revival's origins came after John Goodman's appearance on Sara Gilbert's talk show, The Talk, while teasing that production will start in October.

"Well, I think that John Goodman was on The Talk with Sara Gilbert, and they did a little 30-second parody. They brought in the couch, and John and Sara were sitting on the couch, watching a football game or something, and it went over really well. Then John was asked on the show if he would ever do a reunion, and he said Yes, right off the bat, so Sara started calling people. She called the whole cast, everybody said yes. They said, 'Save October and November', so everybody's coming back. It was meant to be."

Unfortunately, Laurie Metcalf wouldn't address one of the biggest questions fans have about this revival, which involves Dan's death. In the series finale, it was revealed that the events portrayed in the show was all in the past, with Roseanne writing about her life in a novel, although she had embellished quite a few facts about her life. In the show, Dan had a stroke in the Season 8 finale, but he survived, although it was revealed in the finale that he actually died from this stroke. Back in 2009, Roseanne Barr posted a new entry on her official website, where she revealed what all of the Roseanne characters were up to at that point in time. That entry revealed that Dan had actually faked his own death and skipped town, before ultimately returning to Lanford, Illinois.

The Roseanne trailer that was released last month only featured some classic moments from the original show's nine-season run between 1988 and 1997. Along with Roseanne Barr (Roseanne Connor) and Laurie Metcalf (Jackie Harris), other returning stars are Sara Gilbert (Darlene Connor), Michael Fishman (D.J. Connor), Alicia Goranson (Becky Connor) and Johnny Galecki (David Healy). It was also confirmed that Sarah Chalke, who played Becky Connor in the last three seasons of the show afer Alica Goranson left, will also be back, but as a different character. With production starting in October, hopefully we'll find out who will be playing these new characters in Roseanne soon.
