One of the biggest questions swirling around the Roseanne revival on ABC has finally been answered, with Johnny Galecki confirmed to return as David Healy. The news was confirmed by executive producer Whitney Cummings, who sent out an Instagram image that revealed Johnny Galecki's chair on set, which was tagged with the actor's official Instagram handle. ABC president Channing Dungey confirmed in August that Johnny Galecki was in talks to return, but nothing had been official at that time, but it seems his deal has in fact been sealed.

There has been no official confirmation from ABC at this time, and the Instagram that Whitney Cummings posted last night was in fact deleted from her account, but that could only mean that the network made her delete the photo. Still, it remains to be seen how large of a role he will have on the series, since there are only two weeks left of production. Johnny Galecki was one of the only original cast members who wasn't at the first table read back in October, and with just a few weeks left of shooting, it's possible that he will only appear in one episode.

It's possible that Johnny Galecki's return coincides with a report from last month that revealed ABC is giving the Roseanne revival one extra episode, bringing the new season to nine episodes in total. Since Johnny Galecki is one of the main stars on the hit CBS series The Big Bang Theory, which is in the midst of shooting its 11th season, it was unclear if the star would be able to clear a space in his busy schedule to return as David Healy, but now it seems that he has found a way to return. With production about to wrap up, it remains unclear if we'll get any sort of official confirmation of his return, or if they plan on keeping his role under wraps.

ABC announced that the premiere episode will be entitled "Twenty Years to Life," with the entire Roseanne cast from the original series, including Roseanne Barr (Roseanne Connor), John Goodman (Dan Connor), Sara Gilbert (Darlene Connor), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie Harris), Michael Fishman (D.J. Connor) and Lecy Goranson (Becky Connor), with Sarah Chalke, who played the character Becky in later seasons, also set to appear in another role that hasn't been disclosed at this time.

When it premiered on ABC, the series broke new ground for its realistic portrayal of a working-class family, the Conners, barely scraping by in the fictional town of Lanford, Illinois. It also dominated the ratings as one of the highest-rated television series on the air for its near-decade run. A comedy about ordinary people who faced day-to-day survival with a sense of the absurdity of it all, the inimitable Roseanne was its epicenter. Lauded for its humor, relevance, warmth and honesty, the Conner family will continue to deal with the economic challenges of living pay check to pay check in 2018. In its nine seasons on ABC, in addition to being a primetime ratings hit, the series won a Peabody Award and a Golden Globe Award for best television series (comedy or musical). Barr and Goodman each won Golden Globes for best performance by an actress and actor. Barr went on to win an Emmy as lead actress, and Metcalf won two supporting actress Emmys for her work on the series. Roseanne Barr will executive produce, along with Sara Gilbert, Tom Werner, Bruce Helford, Whitney Cummings and Tony Hernandez. The series is from Carsey-Werner Television.
