Fans of ABC's Roseanne have been wondering how the upcoming Roseanne revival will handle a cast that includes both Alicia Goranson and Sarah Chalke, aka the two Beckys. Both actresses played the same character, Becky, with Chalke inheriting the role from Goranson in the original series' sixth season. The question has been swirling ever since it was announced that the show was going to come back and then again when it was announced that both Sarah Chalke and Alicia Goranson were returning to the hit show. And now, the question has finally been answered and in true Roseanne fashion, it's pretty clever.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Sarah Chalke will portray Andrea, a middle-class married woman who taps Becky (Alicia Goranson) as a surrogate. Roseanne showrunner Bruce Helford came up with the angle that would allow the reunion to bring both Chalke and Goranson back into the fold, along with executive producers Tom Werner, Whitney Cummings, and Sara Gilbert. The casting choice will reportedly add to some drama for the Conner family as well as paying tribute to both of the Beckys. When asked about the role, Sarah Chalke declared that she loved the idea. She said, "I love the part! It's such a fun part to play," and added that the timing of the reunion was "perfect."

Alicia Goranson left Roseanne in Season 5, so that she could focus on going to college. Within the series, Becky's absence was explained by her marrying Mark and moving away. However, by Season 6, producers decided to recast the role of Becky with Sarah Chalke, who played Becky for the entirety of Seasons 6 and 7. In season 8, Goranson and Chalke split time playing Becky, depending on if Goranson was available or not. The two Beckys even ended up in the same episode a few times, which was dealt with in a very tongue-in-cheek manner with a wink to the audience. Chalke took over full time for the 9th and final season of the show.

As previously reported, Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future) has been cast as a man that Roseanne and Jackie's mother, Bev, meets and starts a romance with while living in a nursing home. Shameless actress Emma Kenny and newcomer James McNamara will play Darlene and David's children, Harris and Mark, who is named after David's brother Mark. The show will reveal that Mark passed away due to actor Glenn Quinn's tragic death after the original series ended. It was also recently announced that Johnny Galecki will be returning to the show as David.

The Roseanne revival is all set to premiere on March 27th, 2018 with an hour long premiere and then eight 30-minute episodes airing every Tuesday afterwards. Whether it's a one-off is not clear at this time, but one can imagine that there could be more episodes after this initial run ends and the dust settles. The 10th season has been rumored for years, but it's finally happening and it appears that everybody is having a great time being back together.
