Rupert Grint is going through a good time in terms of his acting career. The former Harry Potter star is one of the protagonists of the Apple TV+ hit Servant, which is coming to an end soon. In addition, he’s part of M. Night Shyamalan’s next film, Knock at the Cabin, based on the novel The Cabin at the End of the World by Paul Tremblay.
Despite his new projects, the actor always has time to remember and thank the Wizarding World fans, a franchise that has marked his life and opened dozens of doors for new opportunities. In fact, Grint would be more than willing to play Ron Weasley again, as he commented during his presentation on the British program This Morning. Although, of course, there are some conditions to do so:
“Yeah, I think if the timing was right and everyone came back, I would definitely do it. It is a character that is important to me. I grew up a bit with him. We become the same person. I also feel very protective of him.”
Rupert was a crucial part of the eight film adaptations of the saga, in which he starred along with Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter and Emma Watson as Hermione Granger, joined by a great cast full of stars like Maggie Smith or the late Alan Rickman and Robbie Coltrane, who brought to life the iconic Minerva McGonagall, Severus Snape, and Rubeus Hagrid.
Harry Potter’s Future
Unfortunately, it's not all good news for fans of the series. Recently, with the change of strategies behind Warner Discovery, the franchise was put on hiatus after Fantastic Beasts was canceled due to the failures of its last two installments.
Although David Zaslav, president of the company, has expressed his desire to continue expanding this universe, there is no confirmed project at the moment. However, rumors of an original Harry Potter series for HBO Max crop up from time to time, mostly thanks to fans asking to bring the story of The Marauders or Tom Riddle, aka Lord Voldemort's past, to the screen, among others.
But a bright future might be ahead, as Zaslav recently showed interest in making an adaptation of The Cursed Child, the most recent book in the saga, although this was not the direct work of J. K. Rowling. Adapted for Broadway, the story follows Harry and Ginny's youngest son, Albus Severus, and his unexpected friendship with Draco Malfoy's son, Scorpius, who come together on an adventure that forever changes the reality they know.
