Netflix released a three-minute teaser for Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan's upcoming series The Watcher. Upon first glance, the video may seem like an open house parody sketch with Jennifer Coolidge taking on the character of realtor Karen Calhoun. In reality, the unusual teaser is the streamer's confirmation for the upcoming series based on the true story of a New Jersey home located on 657 Boulevard.

Alluding to potential issues surrounding the dream home, Coolidge ominously mentions fitting a body into the dumbwaiter and warns potential buyers about weird neighbors who may be peering indoors if curtains are left unopened.

The Watcher is co-created by Murphy and Brennan and stars Naomi Watts as Nora Brannock and Bobby Cannavale as Dean Brannock, a New Jersey couple who invest their life savings into the beautiful home. The house, purchased in 2014 for over $1 million, soon brings more despair than peace for the Brannocks. They soon begin receiving creepy letters signed "The Watcher", which leads to their decision to put the house on the market.

Per the film's logline, the cast is rounded out by an all-star ensemble who play an array of less than ideal neighbors: There’s a kooky older woman named Pearl (Mia Farrow) and her brother Jasper (Terry Kinney), who sneaks into the Brannock’s house and hides in their dumbwaiter. There’s Karen (Jennifer Coolidge), the realtor and an old acquaintance of Nora’s, who makes them feel like they don’t really belong, and nosy neighbors Mitch (Richard Kind) and Mo (Margo Martindale), who don’t seem to understand property lines.

Murphy and Brennan executive produce alongside Alexis Martin Woodall, Eric Kovtun, Bryan Unkeless, Eric Newman, Paris Barclay, Watts, Ariel Schulman, Henry Joost and Scoop Wasserstein.

The Watcher is scheduled for premiere on Netflix this Fall.
