In an attempt to completely remake every single film from the 70s and 80s, 20th Century Fox is now planning to redo one of the biggest cult classics of all time with The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Glee creator Ryan Murphy is being courted to helm this new version of the musical, which is considered the longest running theatrical release in cinematic history.

The original still packs midnight screenings across the country, but that won't stop Fox 2000 from producing a new version for today's younger audiences. Ryan Murphy just finished The Rocky Horror Glee Show episode of Glee, which pays tribute to Jim Sharman's stage and film production centered on a single sexy night spent in the home of sweet transvestite Dr. Frank-N-Furter. Which would make him the perfect candidate to helm this inevitable update.

Murphy hasn't commited to The Rocky Horror Picture Show just yet, but Deadline claims a deal is closing in. If the project moves forward, you can expect to see some big names from both the world of television and music appearing in the cast.
