After the enormous success achieved with The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Netflix anticipates the second season of Monster. The anthology series will focus on the history of various infamous murderers throughout its seasons, and details of the next installment are now revealed.

This time, the show will have two leads as it will tell the story of brothers Erik and Lyle Menendez (via Variety), who murdered their own parents José and Kitty in August 1989, then spent the family fortune in the months after the attack, while the investigation was in progress.

Unlike what was shown in Dahmer, who was a serial killer who committed various crimes, the second season will surely put the focus on the family relationship of the criminals and their parents, who will eventually become the victims. What the two seasons will have in common is the setting, since Dahmer's first assassination was in 1987, not far from that of the Menendez.

Monster is just some of the various productions that Ryan Murphy develops together with Netflix, after having closed a millionaire deal years ago. Other of the producer's series released on the platform were Ratched, Hollywood and more recently The Watcher, which also became one of the most watched in 2022 along with Dahmer.

The series has been already renewed for a third installment, which will tell the story of another infamous killer, but fans we’ll have to wait until after the second part is over to know more. Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story will most likely debut later this year or in 2024.

The Menendez’ brothers case was in everyone’s mouths in the past weeks after the release of Peacock's documentary series Menendez + Menudo: Boys Betrayed, so Murphy and Netflix have chosen the perfect time to tell the story.
