Ryan Reynolds has had a string of successful movies recently, and despite taking a short sabbatical, it seems that the actor's next sure-fire hit Clue is moving forward with The Lost City co-writer Oren Uziel. Reynolds’ latest movie is a remake of the 1985 movie, which starred Tim Curry, Christopher Lloyd and Eileen Brennan among others, and is based on the Hasbro board game Cluedo, and Uziel will be re-working a script written by Rheet Reese and Paul Wernick.
The pairing of Uziel and Reynolds seems like a match that can only produce a hit for 20th Century Studios, with the former having recently had success with Sandra Bullock’s The Lost City and the latter coming from an endless stream of hits including Red Notice, Free Guy and The Adam Project. Reynolds will be hoping that his run of luck can make sure that Clue is a big hit this time around, as the original movie didn’t exactly set the box office alight despite its ensemble cast.
There are currently no other details available about the movie, other than it is being directed by Alice Through The Looking Glass helmer James Bobin, but it is likely that the film could well end up not being ready for release until 2024 with there clearly being a long way to go before filming can begin. However, Reynolds will be back on screens this Christmas in Apple TV+ movie Spirited, a new musical version of A Christmas Carol that co-stars Will Ferrell.

Despite Reynolds taking a sabbatical break following the completion of filming on Spirited, it seems that the actor cannot wait to get back into more movies. Among his upcoming movies is If, a movie that was originally titled Imaginary Friends, which will be directed by A Quiet Place star John Krasinski, who came up with the idea for the film and will also star in it. The film was originally set to be released in November 2023, but was recently one of Paramount’s projects to be delayed and will now arrive in May 2024 instead.
Of course, the movie everyone really wants to know more about is Deadpool 3, but that is also the one film of Reynolds’ that is the hardest to get any straight answers about. There was no official announcement for the movie made during Marvel Studios panel at San Diego Comic-Con, and all eyes are now on D23 Expo, which has promised more Marvel announcements next month.
Reynolds has previously teased that the writing process is ongoing for Deadpool’s first adventure within the MCU, and writers Reese and Wernick have tried to reassure fans that Deadpool has not been tampered with at all by Disney. They previously said:
“They've been very hands-off and supportive, but they've also let us do what we do. So really, it's just been fun. We're mad scientists back in the laboratory again. Deadpool is our favorite who will always be the character I think we're most associated with, and we're very grateful for being allowed to write him again. So it's a blast. It's like going back to school again after having summer off. It's pretty fun."
