It is not that long ago Ryan Reynolds was tweeting an image of his first day filming with his idol Will Ferrell on the upcoming Apple TV+ Christmas movie Spirited, and in that tweet, Reynolds made it clear that Ferrell was someone that he really had wanted to work with for a long time. Flash forward to the 2022 Super Bowl, and the pair were back together again, watching the game and hanging out together like best friends. For Reynolds, this is clearly a dream come true, and considering they only completed filming on their new movie a couple of months ago, and it is not surprising that they have kept in touch.

Reynolds shared a photo of himself with Ferrell in a box at the huge sporting event on Sunday, which almost 3.5 million people liked in 24 hours. Both actors have investments in soccer teams, but they clearly couldn't miss the opportunity to get together to watch the Super Bowl. As you would expect, that also meant that Reynolds couldn't help but have a little joke at his buddy's expense. "Will keeps asking me why there's a fourth down," Reynolds commented on his post.

Both actors have huge followings, with Ferrell having been a part of some of the biggest comedies of the last three decades such as Elf, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy and Step Brothers, while Reynolds has had massive hits with Deadpool, Free Guy and is soon to be seen in The Adam Project. However, their paths have never previously crossed on screen, so Reynolds was thrilled to be working with someone he considers his biggest comedy idol on Spirited, a new musical take on the Charles Dickens classic story of A Christmas Carol.

Soon after filming wrapped on Spirited, Reynolds signed off from the production by thanking his co-stars, Ferrell and Octavia Spencer, and made the announcement that he would be taking a sabbatical for a little while.

"That's a wrap for me on Spirited," Reynolds said in an Instagram post. "Not sure I'd have been ready to say yes to a film this challenging even three years ago. Singing dancing and playing in the sandbox with Will Ferrell made a whole lotta dreams come true. And this is my second film with the great [Octavia Spencer]... Perfect time for a little sabbatical from movie making. I'm gonna miss every second working with this obscenely gifted group of creators and artists. These days, kindness matters as much as talent. I've been lucky to work with folks who are flush with both."

While he may be taking a break, that does not mean that we won’t be seeing Reynolds around. With The Adam Project ready for its premiere, Spirited coming at the end of the year, and movies including Deadpool 3, as well as potential sequels to Free Guy and Red Notice also being discussed, it seems we are never too far away from a new Ryan Reynolds movie, and who would want it any other way.
