Salma Hayek is suffering from a great loss this weekend. Her beloved dog Mozart was shot and killed on her own property. The assailant remains at large. And it isn't known why someone committed this horrible, heartbreaking crime. About the incident, Salma Hayek had this to say.

"I haven't posted for a week as I been mourning the death of my dog, Mozart who I personally delivered out of his mother's womb. He was found dead in my ranch last Friday with a shot close to his heart. I am hoping that the Washington State authorities do justice to this wonderful dog whom in 9 years never bit or attacked anyone. He loved his territory and never strayed away...he was the most loving and loyal companion. He didn't deserve a slow and painful death. #doglover #animalrights #dog #dogoftheday #rip #delivery."

Salma Hayek, who attracts a large Spanish speaking audience as well, also offered these words to her non-English speaking fans. The actress is understandably anxious to find out who killed her dog. And the police are taking all the proper steps to investigate the case. She has this to say in Spanish.

"Hace una semana que no pongo nada ya que he estado de duelo por la muerte de mi perro Mozart. De quién fui la partera, lo encontramos el viernes pasado con un tiro cerca del corazón. Espero que las autoridades del estado de Washington le hagan justicia a este extraordinario perro que durante 9 años nunca mordió o atacó a nadie, adoraba su territorio y nunca se escapó. Era el compañero más leal y no se merecía una muerte lenta y dolorosa. #muerte #perro #justiciaporlosanimales"

TMZ reports that Mozart's killer is still on the loose. It isn't known what further security measures Salma Hayek is taking to prevent the assailant from returning to the property. Or how the rest of the animals are now being protected on her ranch.

Salma Hayek was last seen in the 2014 action thriller Everly and the romantic comedy Some Kind of Beautiful. She has a big 2016 coming up, with the action comedy The Hitman's Bodyguard starring opposite Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson. She'll follow that up with a voice role in the R-rated animated comedy Sausage Party followed by the raunchy comedy Drunk Parents. Hopefully she will be able to get over the loss of her beloved pet and find the culprits behind this heinous crime.
