We reported back in January that director Sam Mendes would direct the upcoming James Bond 23, and it seems that job has forced him to leave another project. Collider recently spoke with producer Neal H. Moritz, who revealed that Mendes was no longer attached to direct Preacher. Here's an excerpt from the site's interview.

We now have a terrific script that John August wrote. We were originally talking with Sam Mendes about doing the movie. Sam Mendes is going to go off and do the Bond movie, so there's another director that we're talking to right now.

Moritz also revealed that August had mentioned that he would be interested in directing the film himself and that this film will be the first in a series of films, which are based off the graphic novel by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon.

The interview also mentions the adaptation of the Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson graphic novel, The Boys, and Moritz told the site that they are meeting with a possible director for that film as well.
