Director Sam Mendes is directing Bond 24, and "most likely" Bond 25 as well, bringing months of speculation to an end as to who will direct this highly-anticipated thriller.

The Skyfall director, who has never made a sequel before in his career, turned down the original offer from producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson to make Bond 24 in March, citing his obligations to theater productions in London. Later that month, the producers revealed they were still trying to get Sam Mendes back, and now it seems that persistence has paid off. The deal is reportedly finalized after "exhaustive negotiations," which we reported on earlier this week. John Logan has already been locked in to write the screenplay for Bond 24.

There is also speculation that Adele, who won an Oscar for her Skyfall theme song earlier this year, may come back to create the Bond 24 theme. However, the singer is currently working on her latest album, and there have been no discussions for her to come back into the James Bond fold.

Daniel Craig is set to reprise his role as James Bond, with Ralph Fiennes returning as M, Naomie Harris coming back as Eve Moneypenny, and Ben Whishaw returning as Q.
