Sam Raimi has signed on to produce the comic book flick, The Shadow for his Buckaroo Entertainment company, Michael Uslan's Comic Book Movies, Llc/Branded Entertainment, and Columbia Pictures.
The studio has hired Siavash Farahani to write the screenplay based on the 1930's pulp hero, created by Walter B. Gibson, and made famous by Orson Welles. The Hollywood Reporter adds the character was actually the moniker for the announcer, and listeners began demanding stories based on the name. The Shadow is a crime-fighter who skulked in shadows wearing a hat and cape, and who had the power to cloud men's minds. Welles, spawned the catch phrase, Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows!
Raimi may direct The Shadow; production would begin after Spider-man 3 ends.
