Samuel L. Jackson has boarded David R. Ellis' live action adaptation of the Japanese anime Kite. The Django Unchained star is the first actor to join the project.

The thriller is set in a post-apocalyptic era and centers on a young orphaned girl that becomes an assassin. She goes on a quest to seek revenge on her father's killer with the help of his ex-partner.

Here is what Samuel L. Jackson had to say about taking on the currently unknown role.

"After RoboCop, I'm going to do this live-action version of Kite, the Japanese anime. I'll be doing a live-action version of that in Johannesburg."

No production schedule has been released.
