According to Variety, Samuel L. Jackson will topline director Irwin Winkler's Iraqi wartime drama Home of the Brave for Winkler's production company and Emmett/Furla Films.
The story, from a screenplay by Mark Friedman, revolves around three soldiers who struggle to readjust to normal life after returning home from a lengthy tour in Iraq. Jackson will play a doctor who tries to resume his routine, only to find himself unraveling.
Financed by Avi Lerner's Millennium Films and Emmett/Furla, indie pic is budgeted at $12 million. Winkler will begin shooting next month in Morocco. Production will then move to Spokane, Wash.
Jessica Biel, Christina Ricci and Brian Presley also are set to star in the feature, while Curtis "50 Cent" Johnson is in final negotiations.
