Don't bring up Speed 2: Cruise Control around Sandra Bullock. Released in 1997, Speed 2 is a direct sequel to the hit 1994 film Speed, which starred Bullock alongside Keanu Reeves. While the first film was a hit that's still beloved today, Speed 2 was an infamous dud, bombing at the box office with even worse reviews to become one of the most maligned sequels of the 90s. Chief among the complaints was the concept of setting the story on a cruise ship which seemed contradictory to the title and much less thrilling than a fast-moving bus.While promoting their new film The Lost City, Bullock and Daniel Radcliffe recently had a chat with TooFab. They were asked about roles from the past they might have been embarrassed about only to embrace later once the fans accepted it. Radcliffe noted how he initially felt silly dressed up in Harry Potter garb, but we all know how that turned out. Bullock then names Speed 2 as the role she's most embarrassed about, noting how the fans never did come around to embracing it.

"You stumped me with the fans coming around later on [part of the question]. I have one no one came around to and I'm still embarrassed I was in. It's called Speed 2. I've been very vocal about it. Makes no sense. Slow boat. Slowly going towards an island. ​​​​That's one I wished I hadn't done and no fans came around, that I know of."

When the journalist said he loved watching the film as a teenager, Bullock quipped that he must have been the only fan of the film. In defense of Speed 2, Radcliffe also chimed in by noting that the sequel "had a kind of cult love" to it as well, even if it was critically panned. Bullock wasn't hearing that, either.

"Very quiet. Like five people. Him and the other four 12-year-olds who were watching the slow boat going towards the tiny island."

Keanu Reeves Passed on Speed 2 After Reading the Script

Keanu Reeves was offered huge money to return for Speed 2: Cruise Control alongside Sandra Bullock, but he was not impressed with the script. As Bullock has explained, Reeves took issue with the fact that the story was set on one of the slowest-moving vehicles imaginable.

"I didn't get to be in that. Well, I decided not to be in that," Reeves told Jimmy Kimmel in 2015. "I loved working with [director] Jan de Bont and Sandra, of course. It was just a situation in life where I got the script and I read the script and I was like, 'Ugh.' It was about a cruise ship, and I was thinking, 'A bus, a cruise ship… Speed, bus, but then a cruise ship is even slower than a bus, and I was like, 'I love you guys, but I just can't do it.'"

However, given that Reeves returned for The Matrix Resurrections after previously presuming himself to be finished with that series, he later admitted he's keeping the door open to reuniting with Bullock in Speed 3.

"You know, I can't say never," Reeves told Extra in December. "Because I'm standing here for Matrix Resurrections and at the end of the trilogy I did die, so you can't say never."
