Sarah Jessica Parker is spinning around a new project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Screen Media Films has picked up Parker's Spinning Like Butter, which she starred in and produced for North American distribution.

Mark Brokaw directed and adapted the Rebecca Gilman play for the silver screen. The story revolves around Parker's character, a dean of a liberal New England college who has to deal with racial issues when one of her black students starts to receive threats.

The film will be released in early 2009, debuting in New York, Los Angeles and five other markets, with an expansion strategy to be determined after that initial rollout.
