Talk of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer revival or reboot is nothing new, and has been discussed for the last several years. For various reasons, there has been no luck in getting anything off the ground, but now the franchise is in the hands of Disney, it could only be a matter of time before Buffy returns. However, Sarah Michelle Gellar has made it clear that she has no interest in reprising her titular roles in any form.

Sarah Michelle Gellar was the action heroine of a generation of teens in the late 1990s and early 2000s, fighting demons, witches and of course vampires in her own kick-ass way. Having seen the series spawn the spin-off Angel, Buffy came to an end in 2003, and that is where Gellar is happy to leave her involvement in the franchise. She told SFX Magazine:

“I’m not. I am very proud of the show that we created and it doesn’t need to be done. We wrapped that up. I am all for them continuing the story, because there’s the story of female empowerment. I love the way the show was left: “Every girl who has the power can have the power.” It’s set up perfectly for someone else to have the power. But like I said, the metaphors of Buddy were the horrors of adolescence. I think I look young, but I am not an adolescent.”

Having dealt with vampires, Sarah Michelle Gellar is now taking up issue with werewolves in her new series, Wolf Pack. The actress will play Kristin Ramsey in the series, an arson investigator who is described as a “highly regarded expert in her field and no stranger to personal loss.” Gellar’s character will be brought into the story to investigate the wildfire and catch those responsible for starting it. Filming on the series began last summer and came to an end in November.

Wolf Pack is an indirect spin-off from Paramount’s Teen Wolf: The Movie. Coming to Paramount+ in January 2023, the new series will follow “a teenage boy and a girl whose lives are forever changed when a California wildfire awakens a terrifying supernatural creature. Wounded in the chaos of its attack, the teens are inexplicably drawn to each other and to two others [named Luna and Harlan] who were adopted sixteen years earlier by a park ranger after another mysterious wildfire.”

Details of exactly how Gellar’s character will become a central character in the series is yet to be revealed, but with the series set to debut next month it will not be too long before more details are revealed. Paramount released a teaser back in October, featuring Gellar’s Kristin Ramsey in action. Check it out below.

Wolf Pack will be released on Paramount+ on January 26, 2023, and alongside Gellar features Rodrigo Santoro, Armani Jackson, Bella Shepard, Chloe Rose Robertson and Tyler Lawrence Gray.
