Tom Hanks has a very Disney-esque quality about him, but casting him as Walt Disney is distracting, because he's Tom Hanks. It makes sense from a financial standpoint, but Saving Mr. Banks might be more believable if Walt Disney Studios had cast someone less well known to play the role.

We say this only because a couple of set photos have come in, and though Hanks has the moustache and smile down, its hard to believe the two entities are one. The movie, which follows author P.L. Travers (Emma Thompson) from London to Hollywood as Walt Disney Pictures adapts her novel Mary Poppins for the big screen, is currently shooting at Disneyland, which has been retrofitted to appear as it did in the 1960s. It's one of the most visited attractions in the world, so of course a couple of sneaky set photos have leaked out. Check them out and decide for yourself. Does Tom Hanks make a good Walt Disney? Or is it too distracting? We go with the latter.
