Disney has hired Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan to adapt an upcoming adaptation of the graphic novel The Stuff of Legend.

Based on a graphic novel by Mike Raicht and Brian Smith, the story centers on a group of toys that journey to a dark realm to rescue their owner from the Boogeyman. The project will blend CGI with live action actors. Charles Paul Wilson III illustrated the novel.

Peter Candeland is directing this family film with David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman producing. Shawn Christensen was originally attached to pen the project, but became unavailable when his short film Curfew received a greenlight for a feature.

Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan wrote four of the seven Saw films and will be penning an upcoming adaptation of The Outer Limits at MGM. No production schedule has been released.
