The Strangers director Bryan Bertino will produce Scarecrow alongside Adrienne Biddle for Sony's Screen Gems.

Newcomer Mike Scannell sold his spec script to Sony, which follows a mother and her two daughters living at a remote lake house. They must fight for their survival when they are targeted by a psychopath who drags them into a terrifying nightmare.

Bryan Bertino and Adrienne Biddle are producing Scarecrow through their Unbroken Pictures banner, with Screen Gems president Clint Culpepper and Scott Strauss overseeing the horror thriller for the company.

Bryan Bertino recently wrote and directed Mockingbird for Blumhouse with Adrienne Biddle producing. It will be in theaters October 6, and follows a young couple who receive a mysterious camera and instructions on how to use it. Bryan Bertino will next direct There are Monsters from his own screenplay for Unbroken.

No director for Scarecrow has been announced.
