The Avengers stars Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson are set to reunite in the new Apple TV+ drama, Project Artemis. Ozark’s Jason Bateman is on board to direct the film from a screenplay penned by Rose Gilroy, daughter of filmmaker Dan Gilroy and actress René Russo. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but as per Deadline, Project Artemis will be based on the space race.

Scarlett Johansson will also serve as a producer, alongside Jonathan Lia and Keenan Flynn, via their These Pictures production company. Jason Bateman will produce through his company, Aggregate Films. Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson have been friends since starring in 2004’s The Perfect Score and wanted to work together again after their decade-long stint in the MCU came to an end. Evans played Steve Rogers/Captain America, with Johansson playing Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow. Outside of the MCU, the pair starred in 2007’s The Nanny Diaries as well. Evans and Johansson co-starred in six Marvel movies together, and fans have been waiting to see more of their amazing onscreen chemistry. And their wish almost came true last year.

Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson were previously supposed to co-star in Apple’s romantic action thriller Ghosted, but the Marriage Story actress had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts. But it looks like Project Artemis is set to be Evans and Johansson’s first collaboration since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Chris Evans took to Twitter to share his reaction to the announcement, and as expected, he is "very excited."

Project Artemis will be another one of Apple’s big purchases, with the studio reportedly shelling out $100 million for the film. The studio previously bought Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle starring Henry Cavill and Dua Lipa, and Brad Pitt’s untitled F1 racing film, both for $200 million. Hopefully, Project Artemis will be worth the investment and more. There is currently no word on the film’s release date.

Chris Evans & Scarlett Johansson Reunite for Apple Romantic Action Thriller Ghosted

Chris Evans And Scarlett Johansson were initially cast in Apple TV+’s romantic action-adventure Ghosted. Dexter Fletcher (Rocketman, Eddie the Eagle) is directing the hotly anticipated film written by Deadpool writing duo Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. In December 2021, Johansson amicably exited the film owing to scheduling conflicts and was replaced by Ana de Armas (Knives Out, No Time to Die). Ghosted was the first project Johansson boarded after filing her multimillion-dollar lawsuit against Disney.

The two-time Oscar-nominated actress will next appear in Wes Anderson’s ensemble feature Asteroid City, premiering this year. Johansson is also starring in Chilean filmmaker Sebastián Lelio’s Bride. Described as a genre-bending drama about a woman designed to be an ideal wife who rejects her creator, Bride will be produced by Apple and A24.

Chris Evans, on the other hand, will next be seen alongside fellow Hollywood heartthrob Ryan Gosling in Netflix’s mega-blockbuster The Gray Man. The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and written by Avengers: Infinity War scribes Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. The Gray Man is a globetrotting spy thriller with Evans playing a psychopathic former spy, Lloyd Hansen, hunting the CIA’s most skilled mercenary, Court Gentry (Gosling). Chris Evans will also star in the upcoming Disney Pixar's Toy Story spinoff, Lightyear. The film will be released globally on June 17, 2022.
