Mission: Impossible 3 According to Variety, Paramount Pictures has tapped Scarlett Johansson for its Tom Cruise franchise sequel Mission: Impossible 3.

The Lost in Translation star is set to portray an ally of Cruise's Ethan Hunt character. Casting for the part had generated extensive submissions of ingenue types from Hollywood tenpercenteries.

Lensing starts this summer for a May 2005 release.

Other castmembers include Kenneth Branagh, Carrie-Anne Moss and Ving Rhames

Johansson is starring in the Paul Weitz-directed Synergy at Universal. She's also toplining Napoleon for Lions Gate and in the Brian De Palma-directed adaptation of James Ellroy's book The Black Dahlia.
