Scooby-Doo is heading back to theaters in 2020 with the all-new animated movie Scoob, and we now have some first look photos at the updated character designs. Released exclusively from Fandango, multiple images give us a clear look at Scooby-Doo and all four of his human pals - Fred Jones, Daphne Blake, Velma Dinkley, and Shaggy Rogers. Also revealed is that the first official trailer for Scoob! will be releasing on Monday, Nov. 11. For now, you can take a peek at the first look photos of Scooby and the gang as seen in Scoob! below.

For the most part, Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, and the Mystery Machine look pretty much the same as they always have, but there are some notable differences with the other characters. On Twitter, some fans have noticed something appears "off" with Fred, with one user describing his face as looking "shrunk." He is also not wearing his orange ascot, instead sporting the white jacket he's since taken to in more recent animated adaptations. Velma and Daphne look pretty similar as to how they were originally designed, though their updated CGI appearance has left them looking a tad more "realistic." These photos show us the mystery-solving gang of teenagers looking more sleek than they ever have before, but the redesign fortunately doesn't go so far as to make the characters unrecognizable.

With a screenplay written by Kelly Fremon Craig (The Edge of Seventeen), Scoob! is directed by Tony Cervone (Scooby-Doo! and Kiss: Rock and Roll Mystery. Controversially, nearly all of the franchise's long-time voice actors have been recast, leaving only Frank Welker as the voice of Scooby-Doo. The new cast includes Zac Efron as Fred, Gina Rodriguez as Velma, Amanda Seyfried as Daphne, and Will Forte as Shaggy. Also appearing in separate roles are Tracy Morgan as Captain Caveman, Ken Jeong as Dynomutt, Mark Wahlberg as Blue Falcon, and Jason Isaacs as Dick Dastardly.

The Scooby-Doo franchise first launched in 1969 with the premiere of the original animated series Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!. Each episode followed a group of teenagers solving mysteries which at first appeared to be paranormal, but were usually the result of trickery by criminal masterminds. Worse yet for them, they almost always would have gotten away with it too, if it weren't for those meddling kids. The franchise has since grown to include a wide variety of animated spin-offs, reboots, and feature films. It was later given the live-action treatment in 2002 with the Scooby-Doo movie, with the sequel Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed arriving two years later in 2004.

Scoob! is set to premiere in theaters everywhere on May 15, 2020. The characters may not look exactly how we're used to with their updated Scooby-Doo designs, but the movie still appears to be a must-see for any major fan of Scooby-Doo. If reboots aren't your thing, you can always binge the classic episodes from the previous TV series iterations. Be sure to check back for the official trailer when it is released on Monday. The first look photos of Scoob! come to us from Fandango on Twitter.
