According to Variety director Scott Derrickson (The Day the Earth Stood Still is set to helm Hyperion Cantos for Warner Bros. and GK Films.

This project will meld two Dan Simmons sci-fi novels, Hyperion and The Fall of Hyperion, into one movie that will be written by scribe Trevor Sands.

The story of Hyperion Cantos takes place in the far off future with the planet Hyperion under siege from a space war.
