Scott Kosar, who wrote genre hits The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Amityville Horror, has been brought on by Universal and Reese Witherspoon's Type A banner to write Bell Witch, according to Variety.

The story follows a new mom so haunted by unexplained phenomena that she doubts her sanity. She fixates on the legend of the Bell Witch and becomes convinced that an evil spirit is out to harm her baby.

Witherspoon is producing with Type A Films partner Jennifer Simpson.
