Gilmore Girls actor Scott Patterson is staying at the CW with a starring role in the network's new comedy series Aliens in America, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Aliens in America, from CBS Paramount Network TV and Warner Bros. TV, centers on the relationship between an unpopular 16-year-old boy from a Christian family in Wisconsin and an exchange student, a 16-year-old Pakistani Muslim, who comes to live with them.

Patterson will play the American teen's dad. He replaces Patrick Breen, who played the role in the pilot.

For seven seasons, Patterson played Lorelai's (Lauren Graham) on-and-off boyfriend Luke Danes.
