It was believed that Halloween 3D would be yet another reboot of the popular horror franchise with slasher Michael Myers at the heart of the killing. That may not be the case, as Scout Taylor-Compton, star of Rob Zombie's 2007 remake Halloween and its 2009 sequel Halloween II, has confirmed her return as Laurie Strode.

Sources at Cannes broke the /michael-myers-will-return-in-halloween-3d/news last week that The Weinstein Company was ready to move on the long gestating franchise follow-up. At the time, exact plans for the film were not yet known. Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer were previously attached to write the script, but its possible that TWC is going forward with a completely different creative team. At the moment, this looks like it will be the third chapter in a Mike Myers trilogy. Will Rob Zombie be back? That's possible...

We'll be sure to update you as more on this story breaks.
