As reported by ScreenRant, the latest installment in the Scream horror franchise, Scream VI, has received plenty of praise from Kevin Williamson, the original movie's writer. Williamson developed the script for the 1996 classic as well as two of its sequels, with his last being Scream 4. Williamson has also returned for the upcoming sequel, where he acted as an executive producer. The forthcoming Scream movie is currently expected to release on March 10th. With plenty of fans of the franchise excited for the latest sequel, Williamson recently revealed his thoughts on Scream VI while chatting with SyFy Wire.

The upcoming Scream movie will be a direct follow-up to 2022's Scream, which occurred more than two decades after the Woodsboro murders. While the previous film tracked a new group of teenagers being targeted by the infamous Ghostface killer, its sequel will follow the prior's movie's four survivors as they attempt to move on with their lives in New York City. Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mason Gooding will return to reprise their roles from the previous film. Dermont Mulroney, Henry Czerny, Josh Segarra, and Samara Weaving will also join the cast.

While chatting with SyFy Wire, Williamson could help but praise the upcoming installment of Scream, noting that he is "absolutely floored with how well it turned out." The writer said, "It doesn't feel like 'Part 6,' it feels like you're watching this big, huge, fresh reinvention. I love, love, love, love it. I've watched the movie with a big smile on my face. I think it's everything and more. And going to New York was awesome. The movie feels new, it feels fresh, it feels like a new movie."

Williamson also credited Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, (two of the faces behind the filmmaking collection called Radio Silence) who reprised their roles as co-directors. Williamson said, "Radio Silence is amazing, they're the perfect people to take the torch." He finished by saying, "I love Scream VI. It's really good. It's great. There's no way around it. I'm very happy with how it turned out … I really do have all that enthusiasm for it. I'm really excited."

While plenty of details on the upcoming Scream VI are still under wraps, fans of the franchise are already aware that David Arquette (who played Dewey Riley) will not be in the upcoming movie as Dewey was killed off in the last Scream. Another character that won't be featured in the upcoming film is the franchise's original final girl Sidney Prescott, as Neve Campbell declined to return to her iconic role. Without these familiar faces, some fans have speculated that Gale Weathers or Sam Carpenter could play a significant part in Scream VI.
