The cast of Scream 6 continues to grow, with Henry Czerny becoming the latest actor to join the iconic slasher franchise, per reports from Deadline. Czerny is best known for playing Eugene Kittridge in 1996’s Mission: Impossible, a role he’s reprising in the final two Mission: Impossible films. He also collaborated with Scream 6 directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett on the 2019 slasher comedy Ready or Not.

While Czerny’s Scream 6 role is being kept under wraps, keeping with the franchise tradition, we do have the official logline that reads: "The Scream saga continues with the four survivors of the Ghostface killings as they leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter." It seems Scream 6, like the second film of the franchise, will also be moving out of Woodsboro, with reports saying that it will take place in New York. Hopefully, the "fresh chapter" doesn’t refer to college, as that could make the film a little too similar to Scream 2.

The remaining survivors of Ghostface’s killing spree in Scream (2022), Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mason Gooding will be returning in Scream 6 and are joined by newcomers Jack Champion, Josh Segarra, Liana Liberato, and Devyn Nekoda. Hayden Panettiere, who played Kirby Reed in 2011’s Scream 4, will also be reprising her role in Scream 6 alongside Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers. Among other high-profile cast members is Dermot Mulroney (My Best Friend’s Wedding), who plays a cop in Scream 6.

As for Henry Czerny, the actor hasn’t featured in much in recent years, but he is a veteran of the Canadian theatre and has had prominent roles in several acclaimed films and TV shows like Clear and Present Danger, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Tudors, and Quantico. Czerny will also be reprising one of his memorable roles as Eugene Kittridge, former boss of Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt, in Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning – Part One and Two.

Scream 6 Has Assembled An Impressive Cast, But Neve Campbell Won’t Be Returning

Billed as a franchise relaunch and the first film without Wes Craven at the helm, Scream (2022) had a lot of expectations upon release, and the film managed to deliver for the most part. Barring one controversial death, fans were mostly appreciative of Scream and the new franchise additions, Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera. However, it was the return of the legacy characters that everyone looked forward to, which likely won't be the cast with Scream 6 when it arrives.

David Arquette’s fan-favorite Dewey Riley didn’t make it out alive from Scream, and Campbell has now exited Scream 6 over a pay dispute, leaving Courteney Cox as the only actor in the film from the 1996 original. Two of the most famous characters of Scream, including the face of the franchise, will not be appearing in Scream 6, and as expected, fans aren’t too enthused about it. Let’s hope it doesn’t result in another disappointment like Scream 4.

Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett and written by Guy Busick (Castle Rock) and James Vanderbilt (Zodiac), Scream 6 is currently filming in Canada and will hit the screens next year on March 31.
