Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World Premiere
Fans in attendance at the packed Hall H presentation for Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World at Comic-Con on Thursday were given a rare surprise treat when director Edgar Wright invited them to join him across town for a special advanced screening of the new movie, which is based on the popular comic book series by author Bryan Lee O'Malley and is opening in theater on August 13th. Immediately after the presentation Wright and the entire Hall H audience marched across town to the historic Balboa Theatre in downtown San Diego to watch the movie. "Raise your hands if this is the most exercise that you've had in years," joked Wright as he addressed the crowd. "I'm so excited for you guys to see this. The movie was just finished like a week ago so you really are the first audience to see Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World."

The director also announced that fans should stick around after the film for a special performance from the Canadian indie rock band, Metric. "Is that enough entertainment for you?" he asked. "I hope you have a blast watching it because we had a blast making it," Wright continued. "This film has been six years in the making," he explained. "We love Bryan Lee O'Malley and the man himself is in the house tonight. So who would like to see the movie right now?" he asked the audience. "Please enjoy Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World." With that the lights went out and the film began to play. You can read our official review if you CLICK HERE but lets just say that the movie was ... totally awesome and fans of the comic book and Edgar Wright's previous films will not be disappointed. The packed crowd at the Balboa Theatre seemed to absolutely adore the film, if their laughs, applause and cheers throughout the movie were any indication.

After the film, the director took to the stage and addressed the audience once more. "Thank you so much. It is pretty cool that we got to show it to you guys," he said. "Before you see Metric play I would like you to give it up for Bryan Lee O'Malley and Michael Bacall who I wrote the script with and pretty much the entire cast of Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World. With that the two writers and the cast which included Michael Cera (Scott Pilgrim), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Ramona Flowers), Ellen Wong (Knives Chau), Alison Pill (Kim Pine), Mark Webber (Stephen Stills), Johnny Simmons (Young Neil), Kieran Culkin (Wallace), Satya Bhabha (Matthew Patel), Brandon Routh (Todd Ingram), Jason Schwartzman (Gideon Graves), Mae Whitman (Roxy Richter), Anna Kendrick (Stacey Pilgrim) and Aubrey Plaza (Julie Powers)approached the stage. Finally, the director had this to say, " It means a lot to me that you guys enjoyed it so much and it was a blast showing it to you. We are going to leave you with the amazing Metric now so lets give it up for the cast, Bryan Lee O'Malley and Metric." With that, the curtain on the stage lifted to unveil the band and the crowd began to rock out!
