In a story from The Hollywood Reporter Sean Bean will be starring in Game of Thrones. This show is HBO's adaptation of the George R.R. Martin fantasy-book series.

Directing will be Tom McCarthy. Writing the screenplay as well as executive producing will be David Benioff (The 25th Hour) and D.B. Weiss.

Mark Addy is currently in talks to join the project. Kit Harrington, Jack Gleeson and Harry Lloyd recently came on board.

The Game of Thrones books center around a battle among seven kingdoms. The main goal is fought between two ruling families as they vie for control of the Iron Throne; once obtained this will allow the winning family to stay alive during a 40-year winter.

Bean will play the role of Lord Eddard "Ned" Stark. He is man with a clear cut sense of honor and justice. He becomes the confidant of King Robert (Addy).

Kit Harrington will play Jon Snow, Eddard's bastard son, and Lloyd will play the role of Viserys, a ruler with no power who wishes to have his sister marry a powerful king. Gleeson will play the role of Joffrey, King Robert's son. Actor Peter Dinklage has also been cast.

The show is in the pilot stage and will begin shooting this October in Ireland.
