A new trailer for The Secret Life of Pets 2 has arrived online. This is the third trailer that Illumination has released for the sequel so far in what is shaping up to be an interesting strategy. Instead of going for a traditional teaser trailer, setting up the movie's plot, the studio has been releasing a series of character trailers, highlighting some of the pets we're going to be following next summer. This one, in particular, takes a look at the adorable yet neurotic fluffy bunny Snowball, who is getting into the superhero game.

The trailer kicks off with a play on the old Spider-Man adage, "with great power comes great adorability," as Snowball is getting dressed in a gold and blue hero costume, taking on the identity of Captain Snowball. Not all heroes wear capes, but this one does. Once Snowball's owner Molly leaves, our new hero is left to lead a table full of other heroes. Or, to put it another way, a bunny voiced by Kevin Hart is goofing around with some stuffed animals at a kid's table.

We previously saw similar character trailers for Max and Chloe, both of whom were introduced to us in the first movie. Though, this time around, Max is going to be voiced by Patton Oswalt instead of Louis C.K., who was fired from the movie following his sexual misconduct scandal.

The cast also includes Lake Bell, Hannibal Buress, Dana Carvey, Tiffany Haddish, Pete Holmes, Garth Jennings, Ellie Kemper, Nick Kroll, Bobby Moynihan, Jenny Slate, Eric Stonestreet and Harrison Ford, who is voicing his first ever character in an animated movie. Considering the long and prosperous career that Ford has had, it's pretty amazing this is only happening now.

Illumination has been churning out hit after hit in recent years, with their latest offering, a new animated take on The Grinch starring Benedict Cumberbatch, currently raking in the dough at the holiday box office. The first Secret Life of Pets was a surprisingly big hit for the studio, taking in $875 million worldwide, working from a reported budget of just $75 million. That positions the sequel as possibly one of the biggest sequels coming our way in 2019, which is really saying something.

Chris Renaud (Despicable Me, The Lorax) returns to the director's chair, working from a script by Brian Lynch (Minions). While the studio hasn't yet released a thorough plot synopsis, the sequel will once again be examining the lives of various pets and the hijinks they get into when their owners aren't around. The Secret Life of Pets 2 is set to hit theaters on June 7 and while the studio says to expect more of these character trailers, we should also expect to see a more traditional trailer before the movie arrives. Be sure to check out the Snowball trailer from the Illumination YouTube channel below, in addition to a brand new character poster, featuring him in his all new hero garb.
