Hollywood Gang Prods., Endgame Entertainment and Mongol director Sergei Bodrov are uniting for The Silk Road: The Adventures of Marco Polo, an epic film which will explore the controversial life of the 13th-century Italian trader and explorer.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hollywood Gang's Gianni Nunnari (300) and Endgame's James D. Stern (The Brothers Bloom) will produce the tale, told through the eyes of Polo's prison mate, Rustichello da Pisa. Craig Flores and Adam Del Deo are overseeing production, and will executive produce alongside Douglas E. Hansen.

The WMA/Arlook Group-repped Bodrov will direct based on his treatment of Polo's story. "Sergei is a great filmmaker and the perfect candidate to breathe life into a story about a man whose determination and courage resonates with audiences around the world," Stern said.
