Sex and the City 2 opens in theaters nationwide today and it earned a respectable take from midnight screenings last night. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sex and the City 2 grossed an estimated $3 million from midnight showings across the country.

The film played at over 2,000 screens last night and it was said that the midnight box office performance was 20% higher than Sex and the City: The Movie's midnight take two years ago. That film took in $57 million on opening weekend en route to a $152.6 million overall domestic take.

Sex and the City 2 will open in 3,445 theaters today and is expected to take in more than $60 million through the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
