Former HBO chief Chris Albrecht is quietly helping the HBO series Sex and the City reach the big screen. According to Variety, Albrecht will likely lead a new production company that will finance the film.

His involvement is speculative at this point. The film version of Sex and the City is only at the discussion stage. When a deal is in place, the former chief wil sign on as a credited producer.

Original plans to turn Sex and the City into a feature fizzled due to cast turmoil on the set. A truce seems to have been called, as Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon are all set and ready to star in the project.

Michael Patrick King is set to write and direct the film. HBO had no comment.
