Last month, Syfy announced that it is letting the fans decide what to call their sequel to Sharknado through a Twitter contest. After delving through more than 5,000 submissions, the network revealed that the sequel will be called Sharknado 2: The Second One.

Here's what Thomas Vitale, Syfy's executive vice president of programming, had to say about the title.

"Since Twitter played such a huge role in the success of the original movie, we wanted to use that platform to ask our fans to name Sharknado 2. This response is another reminder of how Sharknado has become a pop culture phenomenon. We want to thank all our viewers for their wonderful contributions to keeping up the shark-mentum."

Our report from last month also revealed that the sequel will be moving to New York City, although it isn't known if Sharknado stars Ian Ziering, Tara Reid and Cassie Scerbo are coming back. Director Anthony C. Ferrante said last month that he hasn't been contacted about returning for the sequel yet.
