Just one day after production officially started on the Lionsgate action-comedy American Ultra, Sharon Stone has joined the cast, replacing Uma Thurman.

We reported last month that Uma Thurman was in talks to play a government agent who creates a top-secret program that trains sleeper agents, but now Sharon Stone will portray this character, named Victoria Lasseter. Jesse Eisenberg stars as Mike, a lazy stoner who learns the he is actually a highly-trained assassin within this program, as he must summon his inner hero to survive a deadly operation. Kristen Stewart plays his live-in girlfriend, with Topher Grace, Tony Hale, John Leguizamo, Bill Pullman and Walton Goggins starring in unspecified roles.

Nima Nourizadeh (Project X) is directing from a screenplay by Max Landis, with Anthony Bregman, Kevin Scott Frakes, Raj Brinder Singh, David Alpert and Britton Rizzio producing.

Sharon Stone will next be seen in Fading Gigolo, which opens in theaters this weekend. She also signed on to star in the TNT pilot Agent X back in January.
