It's finally official! The critically acclaimed, worldwide sensation, Shaun the Sheep will open domestically on August 7th 2015 in wide release. The news was announced by Lionsgate this afternoon, and comes along with a new quad poster showing off the film's colorful cast of stop-motion characters.

Shaun the Sheep is a StudioCanal and Aardman Animations production, produced by Julie Lockhart and Paul Kewley from Aardman Animations, the same team that brought us Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit and Chicken Run. This family adventure was written and directed by Mark Burton and Richard Starzak. Shaun the Sheep is a Aardman's biggest global brand on air in over 170 territories, and was first seen in Aardman's Academy winning short "A Close Shave" with Wallace and Gromit.

In Shaun the Sheep, Shaun decides to take the day off and have some fun. But he gets a little more action than he bargained for. A mix up with the Farmer, a caravan, and a very steep hill lead them all to the Big City and it's up to Shaun and the flock to return everyone safely to the green grass of home. We have the international trailer for you to check out in case you missed it when it debuted in December of last year. A domestic trailer should make its debut soon:
