Father Knows Less: According to Variety, New Line Cinema has a big, fat deal for Big Fat Liar helmer Shawn Levy, paying him $5 million against 5% of the gross of its adult comedy Father Knows Less.

Having helmed hit family comedies such as U's "Liar" and Cheaper By The Dozen at Fox, Levy just wrapped a remake of The Pink Panther with "Cheaper" topliner Steve Martin at MGM.

The script is based on a pitch by Aline Brosh McKenna, who also penned Pierce Brosnan-Julianne Moore starrer Laws of Attraction for the studio. Brosh McKenna's other feature projects in development include "Rich Girl" (also an original pitch), with Debra Martin Chase producing at Disney, and "A Season in Central Park" at Warner Bros., also for Outlaw Prods.

In "Father," a successful but aloof dad is abandoned by his young, fed-up trophy wife. Left to raise his young kids on his own, he must rely on the guidance of the disaffected older offspring from his first marriage.
