Shazam's Black Adam is seen as both a hero and a villain by actor Dwayne Johnson, who will portray the DC Comics character in the 2019 big screen adventure. While we still don't know who will play the title role in Shazam!, one thing is for certain, Black Adam will be a very fleshed out presence. And it's possible that he will steal the entire movie right out from underneath his leading man. In a recent interview, The Rock talked about how his Black Adam will be driven by forces beyond his control. He reveals:

"He's a unique type of villain. When you start off as a slave, you're not in a good mood! There's a heavy wrath that a lot of people have to pay. But when it's fueled by a righteous anger if you will, like Black Adam, then you open up to what the character can be which I'm really excited about. That's why he's not just a straightforward bad guy."

Shazam! doesn't hit theaters for another four years, but its never too early to start preparing. Starring in next weekend's summer disaster thriller San Andreas, Dwayne Johnson is raring to go on his DC Comics adventure. Even though he has a couple of other projects ahead of him first. About finally suiting up as Black Adam he simply says:

"I can't wait!"

Shazam! does not yet have a director attached. Darren Lemke, who worked on Jack the Giant Slayer, Turbo and Goosebumps, is currently drafting a screenplay. While Shazam isn't cast at this time, it also isn't known if the same actor will portray Billy Batson, with effects similar to those seen in Captain America: The First Avenger, or if two actors will be taking on the role. We've got some time before we find out.
