There has been some confusion ever since DC Comics and Warner Bros. announced their impending slate of superhero movies last year. The question has been, will Shazam! be a part of this bigger film universe. While we've heard that he definitely will be, the fact that the movie is being released by Warner Bros.' New Line division has always cast some doubt on that. Speaking with Total Film, Black Adam himself, Dwayne Johnson has decided to finally clear up any lasting confusion, confirming that his character will one day go toe-to-toe with the likes of Superman and Batman:

"It was all agreed that the worlds are all interconnected...One day you will see Black Adam go at it with Superman or Batman or any of the DC characters. But that said, there's a great independence to Black Adam from the DC world, allowing us to inject, not only viciousness, but also winking humor."

The WWE Superstar-turned-action icon also commented on the direction Black Adam is taking in the screenplay. He won't be a semi-good guy right off the bat. He'll definitely start things off as a villain before slowly transitioning into a somewhat more likable guy. Says The Rock:

"I think Black Adam is going to grow into becoming an anti-hero. It's all written within the spirit of respecting and paying homage to the comics. As we know, Black Adam started out as a slave. When he's given the powers, he utilized them. Then in the wake of his powers, tragedy strikes, which turns his sentiment and tone in terms of psychology."

Darren Lemke, the man responsible for Jack the Giant Slayer and the upcoming Goosebumps, is busy penning a draft of the Shazam! script. We still have a ways to go before Shazam! hits the big screen. It will arrive in theaters April 2019. That's just a month before Marvel's big blowout sequel Avengers: Infinity War Part 2.
