The new trailer for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law delivered the surprise confirmation that Charlie Cox will return to his role of Daredevil in the series. While there has been a lot of speculation over where and when Cox would appear next following his Spider-Man: No Way Home cameo, many believed that his announced involvement in the Echo series and his own series Daredevil Born Again was going to be his next run out in the MCU. Now, however, not only do we know he will have a part to play in August’s She-Hulk, but according to head writer Jessica Gao, he could be a bigger feature than many have presumed.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law will be a new style of show for the MCU; a 30-minute legal comedy, which will push beyond the fake sitcom façade of WandaVision to actually deliver a sitcom within the Marvel Universe. There have been many reports of the show having a messy production and not sitting well, but almost every Marvel release seems to come with the same kind of uncertainty and negativity prior to the premiere date.

While the tones of Daredevil’s previous Netflix shows don’t seem to sit within the boundaries of a comedy series, the initial surprise of the series writers at being able to incorporate Matt Murdoch in the show was seeming followed by the need to use their new toy to his full potential. Gao told Collider:

"I don't think we ever, in a million years, thought that we would be allowed to use them, because we didn't know what the status was of the character. And then, I can't remember how, we got wind that he was coming back and that it was Charlie Cox, and we were like, 'Wait, does that I mean we can use him? Are we allowed?' And when they told us yeah, I mean, we couldn't believe it, we thought we were being pranked. We just kept writing him in, and we kept rolling with the story just thinking like, 'Okay, any moment now they're going to tell us we can't use them. They made a mistake. They actually don't have the rights.' But it just kept [becoming] more and more real. And it was so hard to keep that secret!"

While the big buzz is usually about which well-established hero will be joining new shows, we have known from the start that Mark Ruffalo will be reprising his role as Hulk for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. In addition, the trailers released so far have also given a look at Benedict Wong returning as Wong and Tim Roth as Emil Blonsky aka the Abomination. However, fans have also been given a glimpse of a number of other more obscure comic characters who could be about to surface in the MCU. Among those to have featured in the latest trailer is Buford T. Hollis aka Razorback, a trucker who had the ability to drive any vehicle, but it is likely that the deep-cut cameos won’t end there.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law will premiere on Disney+ on August 17.
