Disney and Marvel Studio's team-up has proven more than fulfilling with its impressive lineup of MCU originals. In 2019, fans of the Marvel Universe wondered what could follow Avengers: End Game. One of the highlights of 2020 was the announcement that Marvel Studios would be rolling out a line of original releases as part of phase four vision for the MCU, starting with WandaVision. The success of WandaVision was only the beginning. To date, Disney has aired seven MCU originals. Unfortunately, some releases didn't fare as well as projected with audiences or critics. However, with each rollout of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, What If, Hawkeye, Moon Knight, and most recently, Ms. Marvel, each series garnered its own fandom. So now it's time for Hulk fans to settle in and enjoy the upcoming release of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.Of course, villains are an essential part of any superhero story. Like yin and yang, light and darkness exist as compliments providing balance. By the same token, the villain makes the superhero's journey compelling. It has been confirmed that Marvel Comics' Titania will be the series' primary villain -- the Yin to She-Hulk's Yang.

Who Is Titania and What Are Her Powers?

Marvel Comics

In one version of Marvel Comics lore, Titania is the alter personality of Mary MacPherran. She was first introduced to fans in Secret Wars. In this latter rendering, Titania is a product of Dr. Doom. Mary is what one would call an outcast with dreams of anything that would improve her life, one of which is to discover a superhuman origin. Mary's desire to shake off her pitiful existence leads her into Dr. Doom's path. He offers an exchange. As a result, Titania, the superhuman titan, is born.

Doom imbues Mary with god-like strength via alien technology in exchange for a pledge of allegiance. Quite naturally, she becomes a villain and ultimately an adversary to She-Hulk. Not only is Titania known for her rivalry with She-Hulk, but her run-in with the avengers and love affair with the Absorbing Man.

Titania has proved to be one of the strongest female villains in the Marvel universe. Based on the powers she has been given, she is invincible. She has super strength and endurance, which is unrivaled by many. Her strength fuels a weird entanglement between Titania and her nemesis. She-Hulk proves more than a worthy opponent, having defeated her before, which only incentivizes Titania. Her ultimate goal is to level She-Hulk.

As Game Rant also notes:

A large part of the reason why Titania constantly duked it out with She-Hulk is that She-Hulk is one of the few people on the planet as strong as (or maybe even stronger than) Titania.

Jameela Jamil Reveals First Look at She-Hulk Villain Titania
Marvel

So, the question becomes, will Marvel's upcoming representation of Titania on Disney+ be accurate to form? According to CBR, the MCU's Titania, played by Jameela Jamil, will differ slightly from her comic character. The newest model of the character is being described as "very modern and fresh and silly and funny."

In the series, Titania is an influencer and the creative offspring of Jessica Gao. Gao told USA Today, She [Gao] went back to the She-Hulk comics she loved to find the right notes of meta-commentary and pull in the title character’s archenemy, Titania. However, while some factors may change, her baseline motives remain the same. The changes do not alter her rivalry with She-Hulk, as that remains at the core of their relationship.

And according to Jameela Jamil, this version of Titania has another superpower; she's super annoying, saying:

Titania stands out because I think she's the most annoying of them, actually. I think she almost doesn't need to use her strength; she could just annoy you to death. And I think that is a superpower that we haven't really utilized enough.

Of course, Jamil's remarks were all in jest. But as history has proven, deviations from the source material have proven problematic for die-hard fans of the source material. Nevertheless, some will find the changes delightful. Until the series' debut, everything is high-stakes.

Jameela Jamil as Titania

As mentioned, actress Jameela Jamil is portraying Titania. While this will be the first time Jamil will play a Marvel villain, she has had the opportunity to voice the character of Eris in the HBO Max Harley Quinn Series. So, this will not be too far out of her wheelhouse. However, the star does admit to some trepidation before securing the role, given the physical nature of Titania's character. Jamil describes the process of transformation as grueling.

The star told CBR:

"[Marvel Studios] convinced me to come to Atlanta and spend six months there and train six days a week, lift weights, and do kung fu and jujitsu and learn how to fight in a harness up in the sky.

A complete transformational process.
