She-Hulk: Attorney at Law certainly broke a number of MCU rules over its 9-episode run, and while the finale was not anything like the kind of conclusion anyone expected, one quickly skimmed-over moment has some big implications for the future. While Bruce Banner has been missing for most of the series after being spirited away on a spaceship, he did return for the final moments of She-Hulk, and brought with him his son, Skaar. Having been rumored for many years, the very fleeting look at the son of Hulk could be setting up a potential World War Hulk storyline for the future.

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law has been certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with an aggregate score of 87%. Although the series has not been for everyone, it has been a welcome comedy break in the Marvel saga ahead of the dark time to come in Phase Five and Phase Six, which will conclude the Multiverse Saga. In the midst of the jovial episodes, Marvel has also been dropping a mass of Easter eggs and potential teases for things that are still in the MCU’s future. This has included mention of a bar fight featuring “a man with metal claws” and the setting up of more appearances from Tim Roth’s Abomination, but in the finale, the biggest tease was dropped unceremoniously into the show, that of the Hulk’s son, Skaar.

It has been rumored for some time that Skaar would be brought into the MCU at some point, but having it tossed into the last scene of She-Hulk seemed a bit hurried and “Oh by the way, here’s another Hulk.” The first appearance of the character also goes against the comic version of Skaar, who is full of rage for his father abandoning him and goes so far as to want to kill Bruce Banner, whereas in She-Hulk, he seems to be rather meek and much more like Banner’s Smart Hulk. Whether a future Marvel project will elaborate on Bruce’s trip to Sakaar is unclear, but it potentially opens up new storylines involving the green giant.

Skaar appears in Marvel Comics’ Planet Hulk and World War Hulk stories, which are considered some of the best arcs of Marvel’s long history. Recently, there have been a lot of rumors about what is happening with The Hulk, with the rights to the character having been a constant bone of contention. The latest rumors have suggested that the rights held by Universal, which led to 2008’s The Incredible Hulk being made, are about to head back to Marvel Studios, and that could mean a new solo Hulk movie could finally move ahead.

With the story of Skaar all having happened off-screen so far, there is a lot of uncertainty about how he will feature in the MCU going forward, but it does suggest that there are big plans ahead for the MCU’s Hulks in one way or another.
