Production on The Munsters is nearing its end, and the film's cast and crew are soaking up every moment. On social media, director Rob Zombie has been consistently providing sneak peeks at the film with various images of the cast members on set. A new photo has just been released by Sheri Moon Zombie that shows her in character as Lily Munster doing business with her young neighbors, and it's one of our best looks yet at the new Lily.

"Lily is always happy to support the kiddies on Mockingbird Lane! BIG news coming this week! Stay Tuned!" Zombie wrote on Facebook.

In a separate post on Instagram sharing the photo, Rob Zombie added, "Lily always supports the local businesses of Mockingbird Lane. The adults may be scared, but the kids understand. Monsters… I mean Munsters are cool."

Feel free to speculate on what this big news might be that's coming from the Zombies about The Munsters. It's worth noting that a trailer has not been released, nor we do have an official release date. There are rumors about the film heading to Netflix for a streaming release, but nothing has been officially verified by Zombie. Perhaps the big announcement coming this week will be related to one of these things, or perhaps another cast member reveal or something else entirely.

It was long ago when Rob Zombie announced that the film's lead stars would be Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily, Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman, and Dan Roebuck as The Count. Zombie has been unveiling other cast members in subsequent months, though he still has yet to formally announce who may be playing Eddie Munster and Marilyn. Fans of the original series might be leery about the new cast, as that happens anytime a franchise is rebooted, but Roebuck has promised that the movie is in good hands with Zombie.

"There’s not a better person in Hollywood, or anywhere else on the planet, who should be making The Munsters movie other than Rob Zombie," Roebuck previously told Horror Geek Life. "It’s gone through the hands of so many other people and I know Rob wasn’t just looking for something to attach his coattails to. He’s a huge fan of it and being a life-long fan approaching this material it really is as good as it gets."

Of Sheri Moon Zombie playing Lily, Roebuck added, "I know Sheri, and nobody works harder than Sheri Zombie. I’ve written a part for her in a movie I wrote and directed, as well as another film I co-wrote and co-directed, so that’s what I think of her talent. I think she’s terrific and I absolutely love working with her."

The Munsters does not yet have an official premiere date but the film is expected to be released sometime later this year as production nears its wrap.
