Shia LaBeouf is in talks to join Brad Pitt in the World War II drama Fury. We reported earlier this month that Columbia Pictures acquired the distribution rights.

Based on a true story, this drama follows a five-man American tank crew towards the end of World War II, as they fight a flailing Nazi army in April 1945, just before the war's end. Shia LaBeouf will play one of the Sherman tank crew members, if a deal is finalized.

David Ayer is directing from his own original screenplay, with John Lesher, Ethan Smith, and Alex Ott producing. Production is scheduled to begin this September, with Columbia Pictures already slating the drama for release on November 14, 2014.
