Blu-ray may be experiencing a bottleneck in the hardware department.

In a story from the Digital Times, they say that manufacturers other than Sony could find themselves without the Blu-ray diodes that are needed to manufacture the Blu-ray machines. It seems that Sony has stopped shipping the diodes to other manufacturers who need them.

It also looks like delays in manufacturing could impact the release of the PlayStation 3. The plan had been to release the new entertainment device in November with 2 million units and then again in December with the same amount. Due to the unexpected problems, it seems that number will be cut in half.
