From filmmaker Christopher Hatton, Raven's Hollow serves as a retelling of the life of Edgar Allan Poe. Its cast includes British actors William Moseley (The Chronicles of Narnia), Melanie Zanetti (Love and Monsters), and Kate Dickie (Game of Thrones). Hatton co-wrote the screenplay with Chuck Reeves and the movie is produced by Caroline Stern for Canoe Film, Andrejs Ekis for Cinevilla Studios, and Todd Lundbohm and Mark Andrews for 828 Media Capital

You can read the film's official synopsis below.

Raven’s Hollow is set in Autumn, 1830. West Point military Cadet Edgar Allan Poe and four other cadets on a training exercise in upstate New York come upon a man eviscerated on a bizarre wooden rack. His dying words direct them to a forgotten community, which they believe is guarding sinister secrets. Enthralled by the Innkeeper’s beautiful and mysterious daughter Charlotte and fuelled by the town resident’s refusal to speak to the murder, Poe determines to uncover the truth. Risking his life and more, Poe ultimately comes face to face with the terror that will haunt him forever. A rare film that explores the early days of Poe’s life while serving in the military as a backdrop, Hatton’s film brings together history and fiction to create a truly unique British supernatural period horror rich with dark gothic imagery.

His various works have brought inspiration to all kinds of adaptations over the years, making Edgar Allan Poe one of the most inspirational figures of all time, especially within the horror genre. Because many people are so interested in Poe's story personally, there are more and more projects getting made focusing on the poet himself. This includes a feature film from director Scott Cooper called The Pale Blue Eye with Harry Potter alum Harry Melling starring as Poe alongside Christian Bale.

Over on Netflix, filmmaker Mike Flanagan is also working on his next project that is directly inspired by Poe's work. This would be the limited series Fall of the House of Usher. Because Flanagan has already found success at Netflix with acclaimed horror shows, there should be a lot of excitement from genre fans tuning in to see what he does with the work of Poe as a basis. That series doesn't yet have a release date but is deep in its development.

Raven's Hollow will have its world premiere at the genre film festival Arrow FrightFest in London on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022. This will be follows by its streaming debut on Shudder on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022.
